All demonstrations and workshops are held at the North Warnborough Village Hall, North Warnborough RG29 1EA, unless otherwise stated. The demonstrations usually start at 2.30pm and they are free to members, whilst guests will be charged a £5 entry fee. Workshops are usually all day, starting at approximately 9.30am; full details (including timings, equipment provided and required etc) will be sent to participants once payment of the specific fee is received. Please contact Diane Welsh on if you wish to book onto a workshop. Places are limited and cannot be ‘reserved’ without payment so confirmation of your place will only be confirmed on receipt of the booking fee.

Saturday 2nd February 2019. DEMONSTRATION by Sera Knight 'Watercolour street scene'

Sera Knight paints mainly in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. Born in Turkey, Sera has a degree in Architecture. She lived in Stavanger, Norway from 1980 to 1993 and worked as an architect in the oil industry. Since moving back to the UK Sera has exhibited in London with the SWA and RI at the Mall Galleries and was part of joint exhibitions at the Gallery of St Martin in the Fields, Turkish Embassy and Abney Hall in Stoke Newington. She regularly exhibits in Norway and in Turkey and her work is in private collections in UK, Europe, USA and Australia.

Saturday 2nd March 2019. DEMONSTRATION by Chris Forsey 'Acrylic Landscape'

Chris Forsey began his career as an illustrator in a publisher’s studio after studying Graphics in Bristol. He is a self-taught painter in watercolour, acrylics and mixed-media and is an elected member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI) and The Society of Graphic Fine Artists (SGFA). He regularly runs art holidays and courses in the UK and abroad.

Saturday 6th January 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Geoff Hunt ‘Street scene’ in watercolour

No need to introduce Geoff again (see workshop information above) but a change of subject for this demonstration. His regular diary in The Artist magazine documented his triumphs (and failures) with watercolour when painting plein air with the Wapping Group. This demonstration should be fun.

Saturday 13th January 2018. WORKSHOP with Peter Keegan ‘Portraits’ in oil or acrylic.

Peter is another artist who impressed so much at his demo last year that we have asked him back to tutor a workshop for us. He is a professional artist who specialises in portraiture and, working in oils, uses traditional techniques to depict the people he meets in a modern and original style. His aim in portraiture is to always create a painting or drawing that reflects the subject's likeness and personality, as well as capturing those special elements which make the subject truly "them". Workshop fee £30, cheques should be made out to Odiham Art Group.

Saturday 3rd February 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Soraya French ‘Seascape/Beach scene’ in acrylic

Soraya is an international artist based at Project Workshops in the UK, she also demonstrates for GOLDEN Artist Colours, runs private art workshops, and regularly teaches her painting techniques to art groups. Soraya is a regular contributor to the UK's leading art magazine "The Artist". Her articles vary from reviewing products to a four-part series about colour, figure painting, acrylics, mixed media, and many more subjects. Soraya has received a number of prestigious art awards for her paintings in recent years and many of her paintings can be found in private and public collections both at home and abroad.

SATURDAY 12TH May 2018. WORKSHOP with Elizabeth Baldin ‘Watercolour and Acrylic Inks’

Elizabeth is back by popular demand after her excellent demonstration last year. She returns to tutor a workshop, showing how we can use watercolour and acrylic inks together to create marvelous light and form in our paintings.


Following the success of the lunch and meeting format over the last couple of years the OAG's Annual General Meeting in 2018 followed a similar format with doors opening at 12.15 for an early start time of 12.45 for the AGM, followed by a siciable sandwich lunch with a glass of wine. The AGM minutes can be read on the News page. After lunch there was a demonstration by Chris Jones, international wildlife and animal artist.

Saturday 1st September 2018. CRITIQUE with Ronnie Ireland.

We start the new programme with something a little different. Members are invited to bring two or three works to the meeting and these will be discussed in open forum with Ronnie Ireland. He says that by looking carefully at sources of inspiration we can get closer to what really interests us as artists and develop our ideas. Born and educated in Glasgow, Ronnie graduated in Drawing & Painting at the Glasgow School of Art then completed an Honours Degree with The Open University majoring on 20th century Arts, History and Philosophy. He has exhibited in Scotland, Northern England and now mainly in the Home Counties.

Saturday 6th October 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Karen Pearson, Watercolour 'on location'.

After achieving a full distinction in HND Fine Art, Karen gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture at Wimbledon College of Art. For a succession of years, Karen has exhibited and sold with The Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, Westminster Central Hall, and at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London and her work is held in collections both here and abroad. In 2013 her bronze work, Small Things, was selected for display at the Threadneedle Prize Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. She is a guest art tutor for Art Safari, leading painting holidays in the UK and abroad.

Saturday 13th October 2018. WORKSHOP with Stewart Beckett, 'Acrylic Landscape'

Saturday 27th October 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Trevor Waugh 'Oriental Scene in Watercolour'

Trevor was due to demonstrate for us last March but the day was cancelled due to the appalling weather. He is much in demand and this was the only date he had available this year, hence the rather packed month we are having in October! His book ‘Winning with Watercolour’ has become a top-selling title and he followed this with ‘You Can Paint Flowers in Watercolour’ and ‘You Can Paint Animals in Watercolour’. Trevor also writes articles and is a frequent contributor to The Artist magazine. A selection of his work is reproduced internationally on fine art prints and cards and his paintings are in numerous collections worldwide.

Saturday 3rd November 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Jayne Perkins 'Pastel landscape'

Jayne is well known to many of us, having been a member of the OAG for many years. She is a professional artist and teacher who, since graduating from Bath Academy of Art, has exhibited widely and taught overseas and in the UK. Her paintings are in private collections across Europe, USA and the Middle East.

Saturday 1st December 2018. DEMONSTRATION by Bridget Woods 'Watercolour skies and sunlight'

Bridget Woods is an internationally acclaimed artist who has specialized in watercolour, life drawing and painting for over thirty years. She is also a dedicated and inspiring teacher known for her approachable style and understanding of students' needs. She is the author of the best-selling books ‘Painting Expressive Watercolour’ and ‘Life Drawing’ as well as presenting the DVD ‘Life Drawing Techniques in Action’. For this demo she will not be doing a specific painting but instead will demonstrate various techniques for painting skies. Attendees are encourage to bring along photos of different sky 'scapes' and she will discuss the techniques as she goes through the demo, welcoming questions and comments from the audience.

Saturday 5th January 2019. LECTURE by Chris Christoforou 'It's a jungle out there' - selling paintings.

Chris Christoforou has been a professional artist for 30 years and has built an international reputation for his work since he started as a commercial artist. He is well known for his depictions of wildlife, although he enjoys painting all manner of different subjects. He has written many articles for art magazines on various art materials, including his own painting techniques. Chris will lead a lecture and discussion on selling and marketing artwork in today’s competitive and fast moving market.

Saturday 12th January 2019. WORKSHOP with Yvonne Powell 'Drawing techniques'

Yvonne is a qualified teacher (as well as a member of OAG) and will be giving practical advice on a wide range of drawing techniques and mediums to include pencil, coloured pencils, ink and charcoal. Participants can bring along photographs and objects to draw and possibly a torch/flashlight - we'll find out more on the day!
